How do you do a patent search?
Ideally your patent attorney or other professional will do this for you as they have expertise in this area. However, you can search the data bases yourself.
Keep in mind that people call devices by various names – so be creative when searching. For example, an anti theft device for a car could also be called a car lock, an automobile security device, a car security device or many other things. So try various different names.
